  • Adds IEEE-488 capability to IBM PC and compatible computers
  • Complete Talker/Listener/Controller (TLC) capability using the National Instruments NAT-9914A controller chip.
  • With HTBasic, provides register level compatibility with HP 9000 series 200/300 workstations.
  • Half-size board fits any PC ISA slot.
  • Choice of 6 interrupt lines.
  • Choice of 3 DMA channels.
  • System or Non-System Controller, switch selectable.
  • Selectable I/O address range.

Compatability

The TransEra Model 900 GPIB card was developed to give HTBasic full compatibility with the HPIB interface found on Hewlett-Packard’s 9000 Series 200/300 Workstations. The half-size card fits in any PC ISA slot including laptop or portable computers that contain one half-size card slot. Standard IEEE-488 cables are used to connect the controller card to instruments and devices.

A loadable device driver is included in the HTBasic Development Version that fully supports the Model 900 GPIB controller card and provides compatibility down to the hardware register level. Multiple cards may be installed in one computer and controlled at the same time with HTBasic.

The DOS-based Multi-Language IEEE-488 driver allows the board to be controlled from Microsoft C and Quick BASIC. The drivers in this product allow the Model 900 GPIB card to function with software packages that access the National Instruments driver interface. They also allow you to redirect DOS printer output to an IEEE-488 printer.

Under Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, an Agilent Technologies (Hewlett-Packard) SICL-based driver is available for communication with HTBasic and all other programs that use the SICL standard. (Version 9.0 on uses TransEra's GPIB900 Driver on NT based operating systems.)

Model 900 (GPIB) Compatibility

The General Purpose Interface Bus (GPIB) is defined by ANSI/IEEE Standards 488 1978 & 488.2-1987. The GPIB bus was developed to connect and control programmable instruments, and to provide a standard interface for communication between instruments from different sources. The GPIB interface consists of 16 signal lines and 8 ground lines. The 16 signal lines are divided into 3 groups: 8 data lines, 3 handshake lines, and 5 interface management lines.
